TechScan is a Minnesota based corporation that is a provider of bar code scanners and related Auto ID products. TechScan offers an extensive product line and is also the North American distributor and authorized repair facility for NEC bar code products, which are marketed under the Densei USA name.
TechScan products range from hand held bar code scanners to a series of OEM products that include machine mount bar code scanners and custom scanning components. The bar code scanners are primarily CCD technology. CCD scanners are solid-state devices that are like one-line TV cameras. These scanners have a long, stable product life because there are no moving parts to wear out, break, or require adjustment. They are completely safe devices that, unlike laser scanners, do not require CDRH registration and reporting.
TechScan has a strong presence in the field of machine mount scanners. These scanners are primarily intended for the OEM market where they are incorporated into an OEM’s device. The machine mount scanners are compact in size and include models that have scan rates as high as 500 scans per second.
In the hand held product line, TechScan offers very high resolution scanners that can efficiently and accurately read bar code symbols as small as 3mil (0.075mm) and scanners that consume less than 1.0mA in the standby mode and less than 50mA while scanning, which is ideal for battery powered applications. TechScan also offers a Bluetooth™ wireless scanner that seamlessly integrates with all common interfaces and requires no special software.
The wand and slot scanner series utilizes rugged construction and high quality optics and electronics to provide very high first pass scan rates. In addition, the wand scanners will interface with existing systems for replacement business, including Telxon and Symbol terminals.
